The Letter LeBron should have Written

As my family looks forward to our new adventures out West, it occurred to me that unless I want booed every time we decide to “Flee to the Cleve,” I should probably write a farewell letter to the city that has brought us so much.
Dear Cleveland,
This is a difficult letter to write, but unfortunately it is time for us to leave you. It is not that we don’t love you. You are a wonderful city full of arts and culture and beauty. We have enjoyed our time with you very much. However, our hearts have always been in the mountains, so we must follow them.
We will fondly remember opening days at the Jake; Brown‘s, Monsters and Cavs games, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History. We will miss Squire’s Castle at the Chagrin Reservation, and dropping by the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo on a sunny afternoon to see the Baboon, which was Jake’s favorite.
The friends that we have made in Cleveland have been the best, and we will miss throwing parties for them on Oscar night and sitting around our fire pit in our back yard to talk about politics until midnight.
We will truly miss the day trips to Cedar Point, Toledo, Easton Town Center, Grandpa’s Cheese Barn and Geneva on the Lake on the fourth of July.
We promise to visit once a year. And when people out West ask, “Isn’t that the city where the river caught on fire?” we will smile and let them know about how far the city has come.
We will tell them how fun it is to visit the Rock Hall and how thought-provoking the plays are at Cleveland Public Theatre. We will remind them about our world-class Cleveland Orchestra. And when we are at the grocery store in Cody, we will fondly think of produce at the West Side Market. I don’t think that I’ll ever have a better meal than the one I had a Lola, and I doubt that very many people will “I – O” to my “O – H!” We promise that we will continue to let people know that CLEVELAND ROCKS and we will miss you very much.
